Invisalign® is a game-changing orthodontic system that utilizes a series of invisible, plastic aligner trays to straighten teeth. It is an effective alternative to traditional metal braces in treating several types of alignment issues.
Invisalign® can correct mild or moderate crowding, and minor spacing issues. It cannot correct some of the more severe bite problems that metal braces can. Dr. Dani has the expertise to evaluate whether a patient is a good candidate for Invisalign®. That said, Invisalign® can fix a wide range of issues. These include: gaps, overbites, under bites, open bites, cross bites, protruding teeth and crowded teeth.
The firsts step is taking photographs, x-rays and 3D scans of the patient’s teeth. Committed to providing patients with the best and latest technology, Dr. Dani uses the new iTero Intraoral Element Scanner that allows scans of a patient’s gums and teeth to be easily and more accurately taken, and then immediately transmitted electronically to the Invisalign® lab. Dr. Dani designs a detailed prescription that maps out a step-by-step treatment plan on how the teeth will be moved into place. From this plan, the Invisalign lab makes a series of transparent aligners that gradually reposition the teeth. Aligners are made out of a smooth plastic material and are virtually invisible. It is difficult to tell when someone is wearing Invisalign. Patients usually receive a new set of aligners every 2-3 weeks. Each aligner set is designed to move teeth a fraction of a millimeter. The complexity of each case determines how long the process takes. The average length of treatment is about one year.
